And The Winner Is…

This year’s Nobel Prize in literature went to Orhan Pamuk.

That's funny, that's who I'd guessed it might be. _My Name is Red_ is terrific. It went to Elfriede Jelinek before, so I was pretty sure that it wouldn't be another German/Austrian writer, though one never knows....

Thanks for the comment, Jenny. I am reading "My Name is Red" right now.
Some people make a game of guessing who will get the prize by thinking about, as you did, what nationality the last few winners were, what their politics were, what style of writing, and so forth. People didn't think it would be another playright this year, for example, but a poet was definitely possible. Nobel-guessing is a fun game!
