Meta

I often think that academics who work in translation studies need to learn more about the practice of translation (some have never translated!) and also that translators might want to read more of the research that’s carried out in the field of translation studies. In terms of the latter, you might want to read some of the articles available online at Meta.

Hello,

I don't know how it works in England, but in France a lot of universities which have Masters in Translation studies work with teachers who are translation professionals. That is the way I teach Project Management and Quality Assurance at Rennes 2 University, for example. And there are a lot of other professionals who do the same and put their efforts into explaining to their students what is the real translation world.

That sounds quite good, but I think here a lot of the teachers are either not translators themselves (rather, they are translation studies academics), or they have worked as translators but not much or not recently.

Best wishes,
